How can I choose to be thankful in times when what is in His hands is painful? How can I see past the pain in my soul? Only when I remind myself of the pain that was set before Him at Calvary, and he said “Yes.” Yes to the physical pain, Yes to the emotional pain and Yes to the spiritual pain. And He faced all that for me and for all.
For all who would receive His offering.
I don’t deserve anything good. I have no right to expect ease and comfort and I don’t deserve heaven… but there it is by His sacrifice, handed to me, a sinner. He said, “In this world, you will have trials, but I have overcome the world.”
And so, to be an overcomer of the pain and hardships, I link my body, soul, and spirit to Him. I hold out hesitant hands to receive His grace, not knowing what pain will accompany the blessings. And as I wait on Him, I learn to trust. I hold the remembrance of blessings that have come my way, the many times when He has been faithful to see me through; His love that never fails and the constant stream of forgiveness flowing for me.
I choose to be thankful for all of life. For that too, includes eternal life in Him. Hallelujah!
