What to wear...

Matthew 6: 28 - 30 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?"
I vividly remember the day lilies I planted at our house in Calgary. They looked colourful and bountiful all summer long, even though each lily would last only a day.
We know that Solomon was a man of great wealth and would have been dressed sumptuously in clothes fit for a king. God dresses the flowers of our fields and gardens beautifully even though they may only last one day. So if God takes so much care with short-lived flowers, won’t he take care of us? He’ll provide the food and clothing and other necessities we need.
It dawned on me: God will not only provide us the clothes we need, but will clothe us beautifully! That’s who He is, right? He doesn’t want us to be drab or dowdy or down-at-the heel. He is the God of the beautiful and colourful and He will clothe us beautifully.
Speaking of clothing ourselves, Colossians 3: 12 says: "Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
You know where I’m going with this. Yes, God cares about our clothes but all the finery or coordinated outfits in the world aren't going to make up for attitude. So whatever we are wearing, true beauty is reflected in our actions.
So ladies, let's not worry about what to wear because God will dress us beautifully... and more importantly, let's clothe yourselves with acts of love!
