Reflections of Joy: Why?

For the most part, I think that I have a strong faith, and that I do trust my Father in heaven. And then there are times when someone I know and love faces tough times and I try to measure why they have to be tried and tested by hardships. I fall into faulty thinking that those who are righteous; walking well in the Lord’s footsteps; holding His hand each day – that they would be exempt from pain, sorrow and anguish. Where does my trust go when I dare to ask God - “Why”? Do I not believe in His love and care when there’s pain in this life? Where do I go to find the answers? What do I say or do? Who do I think I am to question God?
And then I remember that He faced it all for me. He paid the ultimate price for me. He paid for me to be free from bondage of sin. I have abundant life even in the midst of pain. I have peace even in the storms of stress. I can trust Him even when the prince of darkness hurls his best and worst at me.
In this world I will have trouble – but this is my cheer – that He has overcome the world!
