Reflections of Joy: Thankful Thoughts

To come, not only on bended knee, but also with a thankful heart, is the posture of prayer.
There will be times when cries of petition fill my heart, mind and mouth; times of heartache and sorrow and pain when I run to the Father for His hand of care to come to my rescue. But in the everyday… in the ordinary times when life is just rolling along, do I come with a thankful heart? Do I remember to bring Him praise?
I’m learning how to take every thought captive and before I open my eyes in the morning, before I stumble to the ready coffee pot, I rein in any negative thoughts and I think intentional thoughts like: “Thank You Lord, for this day” or “Because of Your goodness Lord, I am in a good mood already.” This practice is not simply mind over matter, but it is a prayer of gratefulness to my Creator, my Father, my Lord.
Thank You Oh God, that You fill my life with blessings, thank You that You walk through the valleys with me and lead me to the mountain meadows. Thank You for Your amazing grace and Your unending love for me. Thank You!
