1 Samuel 3:10 “Speak LORD, for your servant is listening.”
As Samuel’s first conversation with God was one where he was listening, so I too, must come to God with open ears to hear what He has to say. My prayers are so often full of words of petition for all that I think I need help with. And, my mind is like popcorn, shooting off as many requests as I can in the time set aside. God knows that these people and situations are near to my heart and He hears my cries for help. He loves that I come to Him as my source of strength and help.
Samuel, as a young man and a prophet, learned that the Lord would come and talk to him. I too can stop, be silent, and listen to the voice of God upon my soul and spirit. When I read His Word and take in what He longs for me to hear, refreshing comes. His presence is what my soul requires, His omnipresence and His manifest presence - when I am still before Him: still in worship, still in listening prayer, still in body and with quieted thoughts.
I need to set aside the rush of the day, sit still in His presence, with the Word in my hand and in my heart and mind. And… listen.
