Reflections of Joy: Frozen Moments

Have you ever wanted to freeze time, to stop the clock in order to preserve a special moment? I have. I have wanted to keep the happy times of laughter and fun suspended in a frame. I guess that’s why the camera has become such an integral part of our lives and ‘selfies’ are escalating and flooding our social media sites more and more each day.

Frozen moments of our lives: most often when there is laughter, fun and sweet memories present. We hold those memories precious and dear, because we know all too well that all of life is not so carefree. If life was carefree and full of fun all the time, we would soon need a higher high and our good times would become ordinary times, which would lead to discontent. Solomon spoke well in Ecclesiastes “To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven.” Solomon goes on to list many of the things that come our way and we know this to be true.

Living here comes with the happy and the sad, the hard work and the playtime, the tears and the laughter. And I think it’s good to frame those good times so we can remember them in the hard times – and we can know that the seasons of life come and go. Ecclesiastes 3:12 & 13 “I know that nothing is better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labour - it is the gift of God.”
