When I concentrate on all that’s wrong in this world... on all that’s ugly or painful, I miss all that’s right... all that’s beautiful or joy filled. My soul weighs heavy and my vision becomes cloudy and dull when I’m caught up in the messes of life. It’s not that I must ignore or sidestep the hard stuff, but I must gaze right through to the other side to see where the good can come in and do its work.
I may not have all the riches to solve poverty and hunger and I may not have the solution to child slavery in the world, but I do have all that is currently in my hand to use, and I have a heavenly Father who has infinite riches and is the Host of heaven’s armies. These are mine by inheritance through the blood of His Son. And, my prayers are the keys that unlock His great power. Together with Him, beauty can be restored to people. This might be just one at a time – but over time, it gets multiplied.
So each day, I need to look with spiritual eyes to see the beauty that is waiting to cast out the hard and the ugly. I need to be the vessel carrying that beauty to a hurting people. And in partnership with the Spirit of God, cut through the suffering and bring beauty and joy – His beauty and His joy.
May it be so Lord Jesus, Amen!
